An End to Bear Farming

The Calvin Ayre Foundation has teamed up with WSPA to wage an international awareness campaign about the horrific practice of bear bile farming.

In many Asian countries, bear bile is believed to have medicinal properties. Bile extraction is a highly painful procedure, so bears are often kept in tiny "crush cages" to restrict their movements. An individual bear can be farmed in this way for as long as 20 years.
